Despite Installation of Smart Meters, Govt. Failed to Provide Electricity 24 hours : Hindustan Shiv Sena
Jammu, May 27: State President of Hindustan Shiv Sena Vikrant Kapoor has slammed the government for irregular power cuts in the scorching heat and said that despite the installation of smart meters, the government has completely failed to provide 24×7 electricity to the people of Jammu. He said that while installing smart meters, the government had promised the people that after the installation of smart meters, people would be provided uninterrupted electricity 24 hours a day. The government had also assured that people’s electricity bills will not increase but all these claims of the government have proved to be hollow.
Vikrant Kapoor said this while expressing his views during a press conference in Jammu. He said that in this summer season, due to power cuts of 6 to 7 hours, people are suffering from the heat and in some places, in the name of bad weather, power cuts are being imposed for hours. Apart from this, due to low voltage, people in many areas are facing problems and in some places, people are being given huge electricity bills. He said that the government had claimed that after the installation of smart meters, along with providing 24 hours electricity, the issue of high bills would also be resolved, but all the claims of the government have proved to be hollow and people are upset. He said that this is also adversely affecting children’s education.
Vikrant Kapoor said that the electricity generated in Jammu and Kashmir is sold to outside states but the people of Jammu and Kashmir are yearning for electricity. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have the first right on the electricity generated in the State and the electricity generated here should first be supplied to Jammu and Kashmir and only then sold to outside states. He has demanded from the Central Government and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take this matter seriously and give priority to solving the problem of power cuts and other problems faced by the people of Jammu in this summer season. He said that at present the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir are being directly looked after by the Central Government, hence the Central Government should also take immediate steps towards solving this problem of the people so that they can get relief from this problem.
Vikrant Kapoor has warned that if this problem of the people is not solved immediately, then Hindustan Shiv Sena will protest strongly against it in the coming days and the government will be completely responsible for the situation arising out of this. Senior Hindustan Shiv Sena leaders Baba Ram Kaith, Rohan, Abhishek, Himanshu, Amit, women’s wing leader Jyoti Devi and others were also present during the press conference
