MUMBAI: South Indian star Rashmika Mandanna has been cast opposite Salman Khan in the upcoming action film “Sikander”. The announcement was made by the film’s producers on social media on Thursday.
This will be the first time Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna will be sharing screen space. AR Murugadoss, known for directing films like “Ghajini” and “Holiday”, will be helming the project.
“We welcome Rashmika in the film ‘Sikander’ opposite Salman. Can’t wait to see the on-screen magic of both,” the makers posted on social media.

Mandanna also expressed her excitement about the project on Twitter, writing, “For a long time you people were asking me about my next project. Here’s the surprise. I am grateful to be a part of Sikander.”
A photo of Salman Khan with a fan, reportedly from the sets of “Sikander”, has also been circulating online. However, there’s been no official confirmation on the commencement of filming yet.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, “Sikander” is slated to release on Eid next year. This marks the reunion of Salman Khan and Nadiadwala after their successful collaborations on films like “Judwaa”, “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi”, and “Kick”. Murugadoss previously worked with Salman Khan as a writer on the 2014 film “Jai Ho”.
The casting of Rashmika Mandanna, who recently delivered hits like “Animal” and “Pushpa”, has generated buzz among fans. This comes after Salman Khan’s previous films “Radhe” and “Antim” underperformed, while “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan” was an average grosser. “Tiger 3” was his last commercial success.
