New Delhi, June 9, 2024 – Modi 3.0 a historic moment, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi took the oath of office for his third consecutive term as the Prime Minister of India on Sunday. This achievement is unprecedented since India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to return for a third term.
The oath-taking ceremony witnessed the induction of a total of 72 leaders into the Modi 3.0 ministry. Among them are 30 Cabinet ministers, five Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State, representing a diverse array of regions and expertise.
Some notable inclusions in the new Cabinet are former Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who retained his position, and former Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been inducted into the new government. Additionally, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Nirmala Sitharaman are among the prominent figures who have been given ministerial berths.
The inclusion of leaders from various states and backgrounds underscores the government’s commitment to represent the interests of all citizens. HD Kumaraswamy, Piyush Goyal, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Kiren Rijiju are among those who have been sworn in as Union Ministers, reflecting the broad spectrum of talent within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Furthermore, the Modi 3.0 ministry includes Ministers of State with Independent Charge such as Rao Inderjit Singh, Jitendra Singh, and Arjun Ram Meghwal, alongside Ministers of State like Jitin Prasada, Shripad Naik, and Pankaj Chaudhary, among others.
Prime Minister Modi’s return to power comes on the heels of the NDA’s victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where they secured 293 seats out of the 543. While the BJP fell short of the majority mark on its own, winning 240 seats, their coalition’s strong performance reaffirmed Modi’s leadership and the alliance’s mandate to govern.
The swearing-in ceremony not only marks the beginning of a new term for Prime Minister Modi but also signals a significant expansion and rejuvenation of his government. As India grapples with a myriad of challenges and opportunities on the domestic and international fronts, the newly constituted Cabinet is poised to steer the nation towards progress and prosperity under Modi’s leadership.
