JAMMU, MARCH 01: A one day Training Program was held today for Sub Registrars of Jammu Division here in the Convention Centre to equip them with legal aspects of the Stamp Act, Smvt. 1977.
Addressing the participants, Inspector General of Registration J&K Bashir Ahmad Bhat urged the participants (Sub Registrars) who also serve as Quasi Judicial Officers, to not limit their role to Sub Registrars only but also act as assessing officers under the Stamp Act, Smvt 1977. He said that it is first of its kind endeavor when a training program is being conducted jointly by Registration and Stamps Departments to secure State Revenues, plug in loop holes, if any, and ensure a vital revenue stream for the government.
The Training Program was attended by 60 officers including 02 Registrars, 15 Sub Registrars, 02 State Taxes Officers, J&K, 10 Inspectors/Sub Inspectors of Stamps Department J&K, Tehsildars of Registration Department and other dealing staff of the twin departments.
The Resource persons from Stamps Department sensitized the participants through a power point presentation about various schedules of the Stamp Act, 1977 and emphasized on reading the contents of the deed rather than to look into the subject title of the deed. A detailed discussion on important Schedules of the Article was held and the queries raised by the participants were satisfactorily replied by the resource persons.
Among others present were Additional Inspector General of Registration, Jammu Mansoor Aslam Choudhary; Registrar Jammu Natasha Kalsotra; Deputy Commissioner Stamps Jammu Shafiq Ahmad and Registrar Samba Subash Chander.
