RAMBAN, APRIL 10: The Labour Department Ramban, in line with the directives of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary  and under the guidance of the Office of the Labour Commissioner J&K, has launched a 10 day comprehensive awareness and registration drive to enroll platform workers on the e-Shram portal.

The initiative is aimed at bringing workers from the unorganized sector under the ambit of social security benefits.

As part of this ongoing campaign, a dedicated registration camp was organized at Maitra. The camp was coordinated by DEO Tanveer Ahmed and it facilitated on-spot registration of 12 platform workers including parcel delivery workers and Commission based Workers on the e-Shram portal here at Bus Stand. The enrollment will enable the workers to access various welfare schemes.

Meanwhile, the Labour Department conducted awareness drives across the Ramban Municipal area, with a particular focus on hotels and restaurants to identify and educate platform workers associated with these establishments.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar urged the eligible platform workers and members of the general public to register themselves on the e-Shram portal to avail the social security benefits provided by the government.

“The e-Shram portal, launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, is a national database of unorganized workers. It offers a range of benefits including access to social security schemes, employment opportunities, and financial inclusion,” he stated.

The portal features a Universal Account Number (UAN) linked to Aadhaar, ensuring seamless access to different benefits. The single registration process requires minimal documentation — just an Aadhaar card and bank account details. To ensure wider accessibility, the portal also offers multilingual support, enabling users to interact in different Indian languages.

Eligibility for Registration includes individuals aged between 16 and 59 years, employed in the unorganized sector such as self-employed individuals, daily wage laborers, and gig workers. Possession of an Aadhaar card, valid mobile number, and a bank account are essential requirements.

The Campaign shall be  conducted across the District till 17th of April 2025.
