JAMMU, APRIL 14: To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, NSS Units of Government College for Women, Parade Ground, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Cell and the Department of Political Science, organized a series of impactful academic and awareness activities from April 10 to 14, 2025.
The five-day program included the screening of the film "Jai Bhim" in the college auditorium, which powerfully portrayed themes of justice, dignity, and constitutional values. On the following day, students and faculty participated in a Preamble Pledge Ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the ideals of the Indian Constitution.
A major highlight of the observance was an invited lecture on “Ambedkar and the Constitution” delivered by Dr.Sushil Kamble, Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Public Administration, Central University of Jammu. Dr. Kamble shared deep insights into Dr. Ambedkar’s role as a visionary leader and chief architect of the Constitution of India.
The concluding day featured a Pad Yatra, symbolizing a march for social justice, which ended with a floral tribute at the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. A total of 100 NSS volunteers participated in the activities with dedication and enthusiasm under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers — Dr. Gurpreet Kour, Prof. Anuradha Kalsi, Dr. Atiya Syed.
The event series was successfully organized with support of Prof. Renu Angurana, Convener, Equal Opportunity Cell, and Prof Jasneet Kour, Head, Department of Political Science. The others members of Equal Opportunity cell included Prof RenuBala, Prof Usha Devi, Prof Tishu Devi, Prof Shakeel Ahmad.
Dr. Ravender K. Tickoo, Principal of the College, addressed the students and volunteers, emphasizing the timeless relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and inspiring the youth to uphold values of equality, liberty, and social justice.
The program proved to be a meaningful tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Ambedkar and reinforced the importance of constitutional literacy and civic responsibility among students.
