 Interacts with scores of J&K students, business community members

Also visits Universal Group of Institutions, Saraswati Group of Colleges Chandigarh to discuss security concerns of J&K students with college Admins

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 26: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo today called on Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria at Raj Bhavan here.

During the interaction, the Minister discussed several issues concerning safety and security of J&K students and business community, in wake of the recent tragic attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The Minister requested the Governor to take steps for instilling some sense of security among the J&K students and business community.

The Governor assured the Minister of full cooperation and said that the Punjab and Chandigarh Administrations will ensure safety and security of all J&K residents and students.

DGP, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav and DGP, Chandigarh Police, Surendra Singh Yadav were also present on the occasion.

Later, the Minister also met Chief Secretary, Punjab, Shri K A P Sinha to discuss the issues of J&K students, business community and other individuals in the aftermath of Pahalgam attack.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Affairs Punjab, Shri Alok Shekhar was also present during the interaction.

During the meeting, the Minister requested the Chief Secretary and ACS to take steps for restoring sense of security among J&K students and the business community currently in Punjab and Chandigarh.

The Chief Secretary and ACS assured full cooperation to J&K Government for welfare and safety of all J&K students and business community currently in Punjab.

Earlier, on the directions of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo arrived in Chandigarh Punjab to instil sense of security among the J&K students and business community, in wake of the recent tragic attack in Pahalgam.

During her visit, Sakeena personally engaged with cross-section of the Jammu and Kashmir student community and business professionals based in Punjab. The Minister held interactions with them on their safety concerns and emotional well-being, especially in the aftermath of Pahalgam attack. She also engaged with several students and individuals on phone in view of the prevailing situation.

During the interaction, Sakeena assured them that the Omar Abdullah led Government is fully committed to welfare and security of their citizens across the country. The Minister assured them that their pressing issues will be taken up with the Administrations of Punjab and Chandigarh. She advised them to contact the J&K Government on the already circulated numbers in case of assistance and help in future.

Later on, Sakeena Itoo visited Universal Group of Institutions Chandigarh to discuss security concerns of students with college authorities as the students from Jammu and Kashmir of this college have left for their hometowns.

The Minister also visited Saraswati Group of Colleges Chandigarh, wherein she personally interacted with students. She assured the students of all possible assistance from the Government.

CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 18: Department of Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir participated in the Road Show at CII office, Chandigarh, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

 The Road Show was a precursor to Global Investors’ Summit 2023 which is scheduled to be held from 10-12 April 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The road-show was specifically organized for the Tourism and hospitality Industry of Northern Region.

The Show, which witnessed the presence of entrepreneurs from all walks of life like Manufacturing, Real Estate, Tourism, Hospitality, Financial, Agricultural and Farming, was organized within the precincts of Chamber of Commerce and Industry(CII), Chandigarh.  Hundreds of visitors attended and viewed the interesting programme which included presentations from  various States.

Under the close supervision of Secretary Tourism Department, J&K  Sarmad Hafeez, a team of officers headed by Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director Tourism Jammu represented J&K with a  purpose of  exchange of ideas & best practices to promote investments  in the tourism sector of J&K.

At the outset, she welcomed the participants and motivated them to invest in the UT of J&K and also explore the tourist destinations across J&K.  She further spoke about the investment opportunities and multiple tourism products, tourism attractions, promotion of trade and Culture of J&K. 

The participants were acquainted about the reforms undertaken by J&K Govt regarding investment in industries, film making and outsourcing of Assets ,highlighting therein that J&K is the first union territory of India to integrate with National Single Window System and J&K also ranks first amongst all UTs in National e-governance service delivery.

The officer also discussed the industrial policy 2021-30, J&K Tourism Policy 2020 and J&K Film policy 2021 in detail with the participants. Promotional material covering information about multiple tourist destinations in J&K was distributed among visitors.   The aim and objective of this Roadshow is to redefine the magnitude and dimensions of the ever-expanding Domestic Tourism Industry all over the Country in special reference to Jammu and Kashmir. 

Joint Director Tourism Jammu was accompanied by  Anu Sharma, Under Secretary ,Tourism Department and   Zeeshan Khan, Asstt. Director Tourism, Kashmir. 

The Event was followed by High tea where in an informal discussion  took place and the roadshow concluded with a strong message that the J&K Government is focussed on offering progressive ,competitive and investor friendly policies by strengthening the coordinated efforts by all the departments of the UT of J&K
