Govt committed to develop J&K’s own syncretic Culture: Union MoS

ANANTNAG, JULY 14: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, today threw open the ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Uma Bhagwati for the devotees at Brariangan in Shangus Tehsil, Anantnag.

The temple has been reopened after a gap of nearly 34 years.

The Union Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag, Dr G V Sundeep Chakravarthy, officers from the district administration and office bearers of Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust.

During the re-opening ceremony, the idol of goddess Uma, brought from Rajasthan was placed in the sanctum sanctorum.

The Union Minister, while addressing the gathering of devotees, expressed confidence that a large number of devotees shall visit the temple on its re-opening. He said that the government’s commitment towards a developed J&K and the UTs own syncretic  culture shall go a long way to develop J&K into a prosperous and peaceful region. 

Notably, Uma Bhagwati temple at Brariangan is an ancient shrine where devotees used to come in large numbers from different parts of the J&K to pay obeisance to the  Goddess. The temple is situated amidst five springs including “Brahma  Kund, Vishnu Kund, Rudhra Kund and Shiv Shakti Kund”.

Design academic odyssey as per aptitude: Rana tells meritorious pass outs

 

NAGROTA JULY 14- Senior BJP leader Mr Devender Singh Rana today exhorted the meritorious students to design their academic path as per aptitude and innate abilities to meet the challenges of the obtaining competitive world.

 

“Having passed the crucial classes with flying colours, focus on now upon what you want to be in consultation with parents and teachers “, Mr Rana told 158 students  of Block Nagrota while felicitating them on their outstanding score in the recently declared results for class 10th and 12th.

 

Mr Devender Rana told the students that they were fortunate enough to pursue their studies in an era when the government led by the visionary Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi is focused on youth empowerment and giving new wings to those aspiring for excellence. He referred to the measures initiated during the past one decade in the educational sector of Jammu and Kashmir, which inter alia include establishment of about 50 degree colleges and enrolment of more than 45000 children, with girls benefiting the most. He recalled how difficult it used to be for the governments even to think of spending huge amounts of money in the field of education and skill development. But the Prime Minister has made it possible to spend more and more to provide modern education to the present generation, he asserted. 

 

He said the dedicated efforts of the Centre and the Union Territory Administration have hugely done well in every sector, including education and skill development, which is visible on ground zero. He said the coming years of the Prime Minister’s third term is going to be game changer to empower youth with knowledge, skills and the confidence to pursue their dreams.

 

During his interaction with the meritorious students, Mr Rana enquired about their goals. He exuded confidence that their success stories in the exams will serve as an inspiration for youngsters in aiming high and realising their dreams.

 

While lauding the hard work and dedication of the students to make a mark in the exams, Mr Rana complimented the parents and the teachers also, acknowledging their unflinching support to meet the educational needs of their wards. Unlocking the potential of young minds in itself is a huge challenge, he added. 

 

This was the second felicitation event, the first having been conducted in the Dansal Block wherein 198 students were honoured recently and the next felicitation will be going to be held on 17th of July in Blocks Amb Ghrota and Mathwar.

 

During his visit to the area, Mr Rana listened to the individual and collective problems of the residents and assured that these will be taken up with all the concerned for redressal. He said the BJP is sensitive to issues of immense public importance and endeavours are made to ensure better utility services in every area.


 SANJY-2024: Div Com Kashmir conducts evening tour of Yatra Transit Camp Pantha Chowk

Takes onsite inspection of arrangements; assures smooth facilitation to Yatries

SRINAGAR, JULY 12: To ensure smooth facilitation to Yatries, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today evening conducted a surprise visit of Yatra Transit Camp, Pantha Chowk.

The Div Com accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Commissioner SMC Dr Owais Ahmad; and other Officers from R&B, Jal Shakti, KPDCL besides other departments on the occasion took firsthand stock of arrangements put in place for smooth facilitation to yatries.

During the visit, the Div Com inspected the physical status of various facilities at the site including electricity, drinking water, sanitation, parking space besides medical facilities.

He also took stock of the functioning of the Food Langars established at the camp. He interacted with the Langar functionaries. Earlier, the DC inspected the temporary accommodation sheds, public convenience facilities, First Aid and Health camp, Water Management, etc.

The Div Com asked the Departments to keep provisions for extra arrangements at the Camp to tackle any exigent situation so that Yatries do not face any difficulty. It was further informed that all necessary arrangements with regard to drinking water and electricity facilities have been made well in advance at the halt camp.

With regard to sanitation and cleanliness facilities, the officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the transit camp on a regular basis, besides deployment of sufficient staff at the camp for periodical cleanliness in and around the transit camp.

The Div Com assured the yatries of all possible facilities at the transit camp for their smooth and pleasant stay.


 

Dir Employment inaugurates Computer Lab under MCC at DE&CC Budgam

SRINAGAR, JULY 11 Director Employment, Nisar Ahmad Wani inaugurated a computer lab today established under MCC and equipped with internet facilities at District Employment and Counselling Centre, Budgam.

 Deputy Director Employment Dr. Sheeba Inayat, Employment Officer, Career Counseling Officer and other officers were present at the occasion. 

The lab aims to provide free access to youth for various job opportunities in different sectors.

 Additionally, youth would receive guidance and free counselling about these opportunities at DECC Budgam. 

On the occasion, Dir Employment J&K also distributed certificates among the trainees who were benefited from the skill training course conducted by DECC Budgam. 

He emphasized on benefits of Self Employment and directed the officials to expand their reach across the District and counsel the youth to avail benefits under different Self Employment Schemes


 District administration launches cleanliness drive in Shree Sarthal Devi Temple ahead of Annual Yatra 2024

KISHTWAR, July 11: In a significant initiative under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the District Administration Kishtwar spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav in collaboration with the Sarthal Devi Management Trust, conducted a cleanliness drive in the holy premises of Sarthal Devi Temple today.

This drive was organized in anticipation of the Annual Shree Sarthal Devi Yatra 2024, with the aim of ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for the devotees.

The cleanliness drive was spearheaded by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal, alongside ACD Kishtwar, Phulail Singh, Vice Chairman Sarthal Devi Management Trust Sanjeev Parihar, BDO Trigam Chandan Manhas,  EO Municipality and SI Vinay Sharma.

Their efforts were bolstered by the enthusiastic participation of Staff of Kishtwar Municipality, Anganwadi Workers and local residents, reflecting a strong community spirit and dedication to maintaining the sanctity of the temple premises.

During the drive, the locals and devotees visiting the temple were sensitized about the importance of cleanliness. JAMMU, OCTOBER 13: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the complete street development of Apsara Road High Street Gole Market Area along with adjoining roads, today. This road network is a key project of Jammu Smart City Limited.

In his address, the Lt Governor dedicated the upgradation and modernization of road network of 13.5 km in Gandhi Nagar and the development of 600-meter Apsara road stretch into High Street to the people and the local business community.

“Our prime objective is to transform Jammu City into a centre of opportunities for all sections and develop it as an engine of growth and also incubator for young entrepreneurs of J&K UT. We are ensuring that basic utilities are upgraded to meet the demand, and it is inclusive and sustainable to handle growing urbanization,” the Lt Governor said.

He said the revamping of the famous Apsara road will make the market area a major center of attraction for the local people as well as the tourists coming to Jammu and also give a boost to the business and economic activities.

The Lt Governor reiterated the commitment of the UT Administration to bring about a transformative change in the urban environment.

For quality living, smart mobility and beautification of Jammu City, we have focused on building new and resilient infrastructure. The upgradation of existing physical infrastructure is also providing a solid framework for progress and preparing our cities to meet future challenges, he said.

Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, we are making earnest efforts for urban rejuvenation and development of facilities to meet the aspiration of the common man. Affordable Rental Housing Complex inaugurated in August was targeted to ensure that the urban population living in slums can access to basic services and livable habitats. A huge workforce contributing to growth has benefitted from this initiative, the Lt Governor said.

He said, various ongoing projects including Tawi River Front, Heritage Conservation, street development from Mubarak Mandi to Raghunath Bazaar, rejuvenation of water bodies, beautification of approach road to Bahu Fort, waste management, Blue Green Project of Ranbir Canal, and the addition of more electric buses to the fleet in coming days will improve the ease of living and make the city more vibrant and sustainable.

Infrastructure of smart equipment for solid waste management, traffic and smart city policing will also be launched soon to ensure that the functioning of the city is smooth, he added.

The Lt Governor said that citizens and other stakeholders should cooperate in development process, discharge their duty with complete dedication and pay for government services.

If capable pay the bill, I announce here that we will waive off the electricity bill of poor people. Discriminatory System benefiting few will not work here. The 1.30 cr citizens of Jammu Kashmir are our priority, he said

I assure the people that the government will take every decision in favour of common man, traders, business fraternity. Our doors are open 24 hours. I welcome all the suggestions regarding advancement of the society, the Lt Governor said.

 Inaugurates exhibition by SHGs, advocates promotion of contemporary fabrics, styles

SAMBA, OCTOBER 10: The second day of public outreach program of Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakashi Lekhi, today began with her visit to the ancient Buddhist site, Ambaran.

She inspected the Buddhist stupa, Akhnoor fort and the Jio-Pota Ghat, situated on the banks of river Chenab signifying the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region.

Afterwards, Meenakashi Lekhi visited ancient Narsingh Dham Temple, Ghagwal in Samba and offered prayers there.


Later, Union Minister inaugurated an exhibition of women Self Help Groups (SHGs) stalls in Nakshatra Gardens of Narsingh Dham. She inspected the stalls and interacted with the officials of handloom and handicrafts Department stall. She witnessed a live demonstration of Calico Block printing on fabric and even printed a fabric herself. She appreciated the unique talent of calico printers and provided valuable suggestions on contemporary fabrics and styles. She also commended the work done by NRLM UMEED.

In a heartwarming gesture, she prepared traditional Bajra rotis on a chulha, demonstrating her respect for local traditions and culinary practices.

On the occasion, Meenakashi Lekhi interacted with a large gathering of PRIs and SHG members at the Nakshatra Yoga center, speaking highly of the NRLM’s role in empowering women and providing them with a platform and identity.


Addressing the gathering, Union Minister stated that various government initiatives, such as the Ujjwala Yojana, creation of toilets and Ayushman cards have played an instrumental role in empowering the women. She passionately urged upon women to reduce plastic use, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability. She also highlighted the significance of promoting the use of millets due to their nutritional and cost-effective benefits. She recommended the use of bamboo cultivation and products in the district.

Union Minister, SHG members, along with prominent figures, also took a pledge to serve the nation wholeheartedly.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, DDC Chairman Keshav Dutt Sharma, DDC Vice Chairman Balwan Singh, as well as members of BDC, PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions), local residents, and officers from the District Administration.

Later, Meenakashi Lekhi proceeded to Purmandal, where she visited the ancient Shiv Temple. She offered prayers at the temple and inspected the temple site.

While inspecting the old temple, Union Minister directed for implementation of the already approved DPR for development of the temple complex. She also instructed for effective utilization of state land for development and the rejuvenation of Sarais. Additionally, she called for creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for restoration of old buildings.

Meenakashi Lekhi interacted with a delegation of PRI members and listened to their issues. She emphasized the importance of converting Purmandal into a plastic-free area through PRIs' engagement, awareness campaigns, installation of waste trolleys at all main sites.

She also stressed on the promotion and involvement of local SHGs in preparing Pooja materials like chunris. She instructed that a pledge for cleanliness be taken, involving locals and pandits of Purmandal not to pollute Devika, the holy river.

Director Archives Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma, Joint Director Tourism Sunaina Mehta and other senior officers of district administration Samba were present on the occasion.


 REASI, OCTOBER 10: To raise awareness, advance understanding and promote action in support of mental health as a universal human right, Health Block Katra organized a one-day program to mark World Mental Health Day. The event, held under the theme "Mental Health is a Universal Human Right," took place at the CHC Katra, under the supervision of Dr. Gopal Dutt, Block Medical Officer Katra.

 Advocate Sunil Sharma and Advocate Pallvi Sharma representing the Tehsil legal services Katra elaborated in detail the concepts in Mental Health. They said that Mental Health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community.

It is an integral component of health and well-being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in. Mental health is a basic human right and it is crucial to personal, community and socio-economic development.

Dr. Ruchi Sharma Consultant Physician and Dr. Preeti Sharma Consultant Paed explained in detail mental health care and treatment. They said it is vital to not only protect and prevent mental well-being of all but efforts are required to address the needs of people with mental health condition. This could be done through community based mental health, which is more accessible and acceptable than institutional care, helps prevent human rights violations and delivers better recovery outcomes for people with mental health conditions.

The program witnessed the active participation of healthcare officers and officials from Block Katra, patients, and members of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Katra.


KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 10: To foster cleanliness and hygiene, the "Swachhta Hi Sewa" campaign resonated triumphantly at the block headquarters Nagseni organized under the directive of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav.

The collective participation of the employees from the Rural Development Department (RDD) and Revenue Department, under the vigilant supervision of the Block Development Officer (BDO) Nagseni, Tehsildar Nagseni, as well as the active involvement of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and local residents, marked the resounding success of this impactful campaign.

During the campaign, BDO Nagseni proactively addressed the local community, urging residents to contribute to Swacchta by maintaining their surroundings clean. Emphasizing the importance of individual responsibility, BDO Nagseni highlighted that small actions collectively lead to significant transformations. The call to action resonated well with the attendees, fostering a sense of ownership and commitment to a cleaner and healthier Nagseni.

The campaign did not merely focus on immediate cleanliness but aimed to instill a sustainable mindset shift. Awareness sessions were conducted to educate participants about waste management, segregation practices, and the long-term benefits of maintaining a clean environment. These educational components were crucial in ensuring that the impact of the campaign extends beyond the event itself.

On the second day, the event began with paper reading session. The session was presided over by Prof .Shad Ramzan, convenor Kashmiri Language. Others who shared the presidium included P.N Trisal and  Gouri Shankar Raina.

In the session, P.N. Trisal read the paper on the Contribution of Kashmiri Pandits in making History ofJammu and Kashmirand Gouri Shankar Raina read the paper on Kashmiri Pandits Contribution to drama.

Earlier in the beginning, Dr. Shahnawaz, ECCO(G), JKAACL welcomed the guests on behalf of the Secretary, Bharat Singh. He thanked the writers and audience for making the event successful.

After the paper reading session,  Short stories were presented by Makhan Lal Pandita and Vijay Sagar.

This was followed by Kashmiri Poetry .The Poetry session was presided over by .P N Shad, while  Prof .B .L Zutshi was guest of honour. Writers who presented their poetries  included P.N. Shad, Badri Nath Abhilash, Bal Krishen Sanyasi, Pyare Hatash Tej Sagar, Satish Safeer, Rajinder Agosh, Mohan Lal Tickoo (Didar Mohan), Ramesh Nirash,  Mahraj Krishan, Santosh Shah Nadaan, Kusum Dhar,   Chaman Pinjuri,  Som Nath Bhat, Pitamber Razdan, Nancy Chetna, RajniBahar, Shad Ramzan and Gopi Krishan Bahar. The prominent among audience were Prof. Veena Pandita, Dr R .L. Shant and others.

At the conclusion of the event, Light music programme was presented by the young budding artists like Gandarav Kaloo ,PranavPandita, Vishwas Pandita, Simran Gurtoo, Pallvi Koul andShriyaGurtoowho spellbound the audience with their melodious voices. They were equally supported by Rahul Bhardwaj  on Tabla, Rakesh Anand on Flute, Vicky Gill on Synth and Ritesh on Octopad. The musical evening was composed by Kuldeep Saproo a renowned music composer. The program was ably conducted by Vijay Wali.
