KULGAM, MARCH 18: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani today visited Chandain Pajan village of Kulgam and met the family of deceased brothers, Showkat Ahmad Bajad and Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, who were found dead after being missing for around a month.

MLAs; Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Mir, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad Shah and Showkat Ahmad Ganie were also present on the occasion.

Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the loss, the Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of the government’s unwavering support during this difficult time.

The Deputy Chief Minister, while interacting with the members of the bereaved family, said that a thorough and transparent investigation will be initiated to uncover the truth behind the incident. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment towards ensuring justice, holding the responsible accountable.

 Sakeena Itoo prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and expressed solidarity with the family in this time of grief.

“We are here to share your sorrow and the government stands firmly with you during this difficult time”, she said.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani and other members echoed the similar sentiments.

Govt committed to deliver on promises, ensuring every citizen benefits from development initiatives: Dy CM

KULGAM, MARCH 18: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, today reaffirmed the government's commitment towards fulfilling all its promises, emphasizing that development projects and welfare initiatives remain a top priority of the present dispensation.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated this while addressing a function held at D H Pora Kulgam to commemorate the 31st death anniversary of former Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Wali Mohd Itoo.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government is working tirelessly to ensure progress in key sectors like infrastructure, employment, healthcare and education and other sectors. He assured the public that every effort is being made to accelerate ongoing projects and implement schemes and programmes aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens.


“The trust of the people is our biggest responsibility, we are fully committed towards delivering on our promises and ensuring that every citizen benefits from government initiatives,” he stated.

 The Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with the locals, listened to their concerns and assured them of swift action on pressing issues.

“The government remains focused on inclusive growth and will continue to engage with the public to address their needs effectively”, he said.

He also directed the concerned officers to frame DPR for construction of a Rest house at D H Pora.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, also paid rich tributes to former Speaker and her father Wali Mohammad Itoo, acknowledging his remarkable contributions towards welfare and development of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

 Remembering him as a visionary leader, she emphasized his relentless efforts in improving governance, strengthening democratic values and working for the upliftment of society. She reiterated that the Omar Abdullah led government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of the people. “We are taking every necessary step to ensure inclusive development and progress. Our government is dedicated towards addressing the needs of the people and fulfilling their aspirations,” she added.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, in his address, paid rich tributes to former Speaker, Wali Mohammad Itoo, acknowledging his remarkable contributions towards welfare and development of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the late leader’s tireless efforts in uplifting the region, particularly his work in strengthening democratic values and improving public infrastructure. “Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo dedicated his life to the service of the people. His vision for progress and his contributions to governance will always be remembered,” he said.

MLAs Abdul Majjed Larmi, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Mir, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad Shah and Showkat Ahmad Ganie also paid tributes to the late leader. They highlighted his immense contributions towards development of the region and praised his dedication to public service and his role in strengthening democratic institutions.

 


KULGAM, MARCH 01: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning of the Eklavya Model Residential School Tangmarg.

During the meeting, the Principal of the school informed the chair about the available facilities and additional requirements of the residential school including the hostel facility for students, computer lab and library.

He also informed the chair that presently there are 140 students enrolled in the Residential School and this year there will be addition of more 60 students.

The DC also took stock of progress of construction work of teachers quarters, boundary wall besides developing the infrastructure in respect to intake capacity of school.

He further stressed the importance of ensuring that the students have access to all necessary resources including computer lab, library and laboratory facilities to excel in their academic pursuits, including extra-curricular activities.

DC also highlighted the need for regular monitoring of the academic progress of the students and stressed to ensure availability of requisite facilities for the students at the Residential school.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Altaf Ahmad Khan; CPO, Ex., Engineer R&B DH Pora, CEO, Cluster Principal HSS Manzgam, Warden of School and other officers of School Education Department.

 

Reiterates Govt’s commitment of strengthening healthcare services across J&K

KULGAM, FEBRUARY 23: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today visited Kulgam and inaugurated two newly constructed New Type Primary Health Center (NTPHC) buildings in Lammer and Chowgam villages of the district.

 MLA Devsar, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad Shah; Director Health Services, Kashmir; Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC); Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR); senior officers of health department and locals were present on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister reiterated Omar Abdullah led government’s commitment towards strengthening the healthcare system across Jammu & Kashmir. “Our government is determined to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved areas and ensure quality medical services reach every doorsteps, reducing dependency of people on far-off hospitals”, Sakeena stated.


The Minister further underlined the importance of accessible healthcare services for all, particularly in remote villages. “These health centres will play major role in providing essential medical services to the people of these villages as well as adjacent areas. These centres will also ensure that no one is deprived of timely medical attention”, the Minister maintained.

The Minister highlighted that the focus of present government is to ensure quality healthcare services for all. She added that the present government will ensure that essential medical facilities are more accessible and better equipped to cater to public needs.


 Speaking on the occasion, MLA Devsar, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad, said that these health facilities will significantly improve healthcare services for the local population here.

 


Kulgam, February 19: Mission Director (MD), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), J&K Khurshid Ahmad Shah took a virtual meeting today to review the implementation of JJM in  Kulgam.

He took a comprehensive review of all components and directed the concerned officers to give a new impetus to the works stalled due to harsh weather conditions. MD emphasized the need to complete the schemes on time so that people are benefitted.

He directed concerned officers to speed up the process of Har Ghar Certification of reported villages within ten days.

It was given that 143 schemes in the district are in different phases of execution out of which 102 schemes have been completed till day.

Besides, 337 civil works which include dug wells, bore wells, rapid sand filtration plants, slow sand filtration plants, over head tanks and laying of pipe networks have been allotted out of which 244 works have been completed.

The meeting was attended by senior Jal Shakti officials of the district, consultant JJM, and Project Manager DPMU besides representatives of Third Party Monitoring Agency (TPIA).


 Kulgam February 11: To empower women and foster their  economic independence, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kulgam kick started 200 hours cutting-edge vocational training program for  Cutting & Tailoring for Women today.

The programme was  inaugurated by Dr Manzoor A Ganai, Professor & Head KVK Kulgam and was attended by concerned coordinators of the programme.

 Speaking on the occasion, Ganai  emphasized the significance of skill development in fostering financial independence among rural women.

 He encouraged participants to leverage their newly acquired skills for self-employment and entrepreneurship. The coordinators provided training in cutting, stitching, and designing, ensuring practical learning for all attendees.

 This innovative program is designed to equip women with the essential skills and knowledge in the fields of cutting and tailoring, opening up opportunities for self-employment, entrepreneurship, and career advancement. 

This initiative is a part of KVK’s continued commitment to community development and social change, creating avenues for women to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.


 Directs timely completion of ongoing works

KULGAM, JANUARY 20: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today convened a meeting to take stock of the physical and financial achievements made under District Capex 2024-25.

During the meeting, it was informed that out of 2600 approved works 1500 works have been completed physically by the end of December.

DDC took a detailed review of progress achieved in each department including RDD, Health, Education, R&B, PDD, PHE & Agriculture allied departments.

It was given out in the meeting that in the RDD department alone as many as 1220 works were taken up out of which 920 stands were completed by the end of December.

The DDC directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure that the implementation of all the works on ground is expedited so that they are completed at the earliest.

While reviewing the progress of ongoing works, the DC instructed concerned officers to ensure quality work under each category is ensured so that the desired outcome is realized.

He stressed to utilize the working season properly to complete projects well in time by spending all the released money. It will minimize the last month's rush to treasury billing, DDC added.

Officers were stressed to put in best efforts for maximum and optimum utilization of funds under different schemes so that no released expenditure would be surrendered.

He also urged the concerned to work vigorously and put extra efforts to achieve the desired results by the end of February.

The meeting was attended by  SE R&B, ACP, JDP, ACD, Executing Engineers from R&B, REW, CEO, CMO, all BDO's and other District Officers.


 Kulgam, January 05: The District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson of Kulgam Mohammad Afzal Parray, conducted an inspection of the Mechanical Division of  Kulgam to assess the operational readiness for snow clearance ahead of forecasted snowfall & timely restoration of road connectivity.

On the occasion, he was briefed regarding the deployment strategies and maintenance schedules to ensure smooth operations during snow emergencies.

Meanwhile, he issued clear instructions to ensure that all snow clearance machines remain operational and ready for immediate deployment.

It was given that 24×7 control room has already been established in the district to facilitate timely operations and address public concerns. 

He emphasized the importance of coordination with other departments to prioritize critical routes, including highways, hospitals, religious places and educational institutions.

Officials from the Mechanical Division assured the Chairperson of their commitment to minimizing disruptions, maintaining public safety, and ensuring the continuity of essential services during winter.

The scheme aims to enhance the share of rooftop solar capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity, supported by significant financial contributions from the government.

During the meeting, it was informed that a substantial number of applications have been received for installation of rooftops in the district.

 Furthermore, five villages have been identified for the establishment of Model Solar Villages, which will be eligible for significant grants after assessment to facilitate their transition to sustainable energy solutions.

The DC emphasized the need to increase registrations under the scheme and directed the departments to launch massive awareness campaigns. 

The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) was specifically instructed to conduct door-to-door outreach for mobilizing maximum participation and raising awareness about the scheme.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Joint Director Planning (JDP), Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Superintending Engineer KPDCL, Executive Engineer KPDCL, representatives from JKEDA, Tehsildars, and other concerned officers.

KULGAM, DECEMBER 13: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) continues in full swing in Kulgam district and has reached  07 more Panchayats, today.

These 07 panchayats include Nihama, Odura, Kakran, Pariwan, Samnoo, Nillow and Harveit. The venues presented a festive look with colourful cultural events held besides presentation of success stories of beneficiaries, progressive farmers, entrepreneurs and an effective IEC campaign about centrally sponsored schemes.

On the occasion, the PRIs and field functionaries of stakeholder departments spread awareness about government schemes. Audio-Video sessions through IEC Vans mounted LEDs remained key attractions for the locals.

Officers and officials remained busy in IEC activities at all the Panchayats of the block in an effort to reach the unreached population.

Welfare, employment, insurance, social security and income generation based schemes were highlighted by all departments who had installed stalls.

Block officers and officials from line departments, PRIs, students and locals participated in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programmes in aforesaid panchayats, fervently.

 


KULGAM, NOVEMBER 28: Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) started today in 10 more Panchayat Halqas of the Manzgam block of the district, amid enthusiastic and vibrant participation of stakeholders.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Showkat Ahmad Rather attended the programme along with SDM DH Pora, Bashir Ul Hassan; ACD, Mohd Imran and supervised multiple activities organized under the nationwide campaign.

Panchayat Halqas including Asnoor, Mirwani, Korel, Tangmarg, Watoo and KB Pora comprising 10 Panchayats, were today taken up during the fourth day of the Yatra in the district.

Officers and officials continued to aware people about government schemes and interacted with people and motivated them to register for schemes and get benefits under various employment and welfare based schemes.

Beneficiaries, who have availed services, also shared their experiences under Meri Kahaani, Meri Zubaani initiative and expressed gratitude for the seamless services delivery.

Drone and soil health card demonstrations, health camps for NCD, Anaemia screening and other on spot services were provided on the occasion.

Assistance under different government schemes, felicitation events, painting and drawing competitions were also held on the occasion across the Panchayats.

Speaking on occasion, the ADDC said that Ayushman Bhava campaign has been launched to ensure saturation in coverage of healthcare schemes on mission mode, and is an umbrella of various health care initiatives.

He added that the campaign will continue for four months and during the campaign Ayushman Sabhas, Ayushman Melas, Screening camps and other programmes will be conducted across the district.

KULGAM, AUGUST 26: In a momentous event that signifies the dedication and hard work put in by the brightest minds who got recently selected as JKAS Officers, District Administration Kulgam today organized an Interaction-cum-Felicitation ceremony for these newly selected officers of Kulgam District at mini-secretariat Kulgam.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and other officers interacted with the selected candidates who shared their experience about qualifying the prestigious Civil Services Examination.

The DC congratulated these JKAS selected candidates once again and expressed hope that their success would motivate others to aim high and achieve their goals.

The candidates who met the DC include Shajaad Farooq (Rank 12), Zeeshan Ilyas (Rank 14), Rahil Amin (Rank 17), Dr. Masroor Gayas (Rank 49), Arif Hussain Laway (50) and M Sufder Bhat (Rank 190).

Pertinent to mention that District Administration has put in place concerted efforts to create a conducive atmosphere to facilitate aspiring students to prepare for their exams and has already established a Civil Services Library at Kulgam.

Moreover under District Capex, four more libraries will come up at D.K.Marg, DIET Kulgam, Mohammad Pora and Tarigam so the aspiring candidates can get best facilities to prepare for civil services and other professional exams.
