NAGROTA MARCH 08- In a heartfelt tribute to her legendary father and senior BJP leader, Devender Singh Rana, J&K BJP Yuva Morcha Vice President Devyani Rana today  joined thousands of women in Nagrota to celebrate International Women’s Day. 

The event was held at the very venue where Mr. Rana had embarked on his journey to contest the 2024-Legislative Assembly elections—a contest he won with a record-breaking margin, emerging as the most resounding voice for Jammu’s cause.

The atmosphere was charged with emotions and nostalgia as the people of Nagrota remembered the dynamic and visionary leadership of Devender Singh Rana, who left this world on October 31 last with his boots on, just days after taking oath as an MLA, leaving behind an irreplaceable void in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.

Interacting with the participants, Devyani Rana emphasized the unmatched potential of women and their role in shaping society as also their own destiny.

“Given the right opportunities, the sky is the only limit for women, who have already proven that they are second to none in any field,” she said.

Devyani Rana also highlighted the Narendra Modi government’s commitment to women empowerment, urging the women of Nagrota to take full advantage of the various welfare schemes designed to uplift them.

Assuring her support to the people of Nagrota, Devyani Rana reaffirmed her commitment to carrying forward her father’s mission. “This constituency was extremely close to my father’s heart, and I will do everything I can to uphold his vision for its progress,” she added.

During the event, Devyani Rana felicitated several distinguished women achievers from Nagrota for their exceptional contributions in different fields. They included Nazia Bibi, daughter of Sabar Ali and Zulaikha Bibi, an international Kho-Kho player who represented India in the 2025 Kho-Kho World Cup in New Delhi. Hailing from Ban, Nagrota, she played a crucial role in India’s victory;  Chhavi Sharma, daughter of Vijay Sharma and Tripta Sharma from Jandyal Thathi, an international fencer who won a bronze medal in the Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championship held in Christchurch, New Zealand; Ridhima Rajput, daughter of Rajeshwar Singh and Bindu Slathia from Jakhyari (Dhan), a promising spin bowling all-rounder. She played Under-15 and Under-19 cricket (2023-24) and took 11 wickets in the Women’s U-15 One-Day Trophy, securing 9th rank in India; Meenakshi Jamwal, daughter of Varinder Singh and Neetu Devi from Jhakyari Dhan Panchayat, a senior national-level player in Kho-Kho and Rugby ; Ashley Sharma, daughter of Romesh Kumar and Anjali Sharma, a national-level Judo player from Agore village; Preeti Sharma, daughter of Late Bansi Lal Sharma, a successful entrepreneur who has been running a wholesale grocery business in Nagrota for the past two decades; Prakriti Sharma, daughter of Rattan Lal and Santosh Sharma from Gharota, a gold medalist at the National Thang Ta Championship in Kanyakumari,  Ekta Kumari, resident of Gharota, who led the NCC contingent during the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi and Chitrakala, daughter of Ishar Dass from Chilla,  a gold medalist in Mastogi-Du.

The celebrations were marked by a cultural extravaganza and local talent showcase. The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances by women and girls from the Nagrota constituency. Renowned Dogri singer Varsha Jamwal, who hails from Surinsar, Nagrota, presented a mesmerizing performance, enthralling the audience.

Devyani Rana also launched Pooja Saathi Dhoop Cones, a local women-led entrepreneurship initiative. This product, crafted by Nagrota’s Self-Help Group (SHG), is now listed on various online platforms, bringing handmade food, beauty, health, jewelry, and clothing products to a wider market.

The event was a testament to the growing empowerment of women in Nagrota and reaffirmed the legacy of Devender Singh Rana, who always advocated for social and economic upliftment of the Constituency.

 

Sports inculcates camaraderie among youth: Rana

NAGROTA AUGUST 11- Expressing satisfaction over sports gaining momentum in rural areas almost at par with urban and semi-urban pockets of Jammu and Kashmir, Senior BJP leader Mr Devender Singh Rana today said in the present era when social media is fast catching the imagination of young people, sports stands out as a catalyst to utilize their energies in more positive pursuits and fostering camaraderie.


Speaking at the concluding ceremony of  Kathar Premier League Cricket finals, Mr Devender Rana said alongside personality development, discipline and team spirit the sports open up vistas of opportunities to enterprising and talented youth in career advancement.

 

Mr Rana said cricket continues to remain a major attraction with the youth but the other games are equally flourishing with some of the traditional and rural oriented games witnessing revival and comeback. This is imperative for youth to choose the game as per aptitude. In the recent years, the Nagrota Assembly Constituency has emerged as a premier destination for the sports lovers of the adjoining areas to watch budding sports persons participating in different competitions, he added.

 

He said Jammu and Kashmir has no dearth of talent but need of the time is to identify and polish their skills. In this context the role of coaches, mentors and organizations dedicated to various games becomes very crucial. It is heartening to note that Nagrota has a good number of sports enthusiasts, who have been not only providing a platform but organizing big events also. He complimented the organizers for holding the tournament, saying this will go a long way in motivating and inspiring youngsters to participate in various games. He exuded confidence that both the organizers and sports persons will come together to promote sports as a means of bringing young people closer, forging bonds that will last a lifetime.

 

Mr Devender Rana congratulated the winner-up team for giving their best on the field and also complimented the participating teams for their enthusiasm towards the game. He is losing and winning are part of the game and the important thing is that this is taken in a sportsman spirit. He also appreciated the response of the sports lovers in acknowledging good cricket by applauding every ball and stroke by batsmen.

 

In all, 32 teams participated in the Kathar Premier League Tournament finals. Kathar Super Giants emerged as winners by defeating Badyal Rockers, which could only score 75 runs against 85 by the winners.  While Ganesh Sharma was declared as Man of the Match, Shubham Gupta emerged as Man of the Series. Similarly Ashish Singh and Shami were respectively adjudged best bowler and best batsman.

 

Mr Rana gave away the winners and runners up trophies. He also hailed the contribution of the organizers Arun Kesar and Abhishek Kesar for holding the mega event.

 


JAMMU, AUGUST 07: Director, Panchayati Raj, Sham Lal on Wednesday visited the TRT Camp in Nagrota to address the concerns of Kashmiri migrant families.

The visit, part of his role as Parbhari Officer under the 'Back to Village Program' was aimed to gain firsthand insights into the challenges faced by these displaced families.

During his visit, Director Panchayati Raj resolved several issues on the spot and initiated discussions with relevant authorities to tackle remaining concerns.

During his interaction, Sham Lal emphasized the government's commitment to providing all necessary facilities and services at the doorstep of the people.

He highlighted that various services have been made available online, allowing residents to benefit from these services from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need to visit any offices.

Director Panchayati Raj also focused on the numerous online schemes designed for unemployed youth, encouraging them to take advantage of these opportunities to secure employment.

He stressed the importance of maximizing the benefits of these schemes to fulfill the vision of a Vikshit Bharat.

Regarding the issues raised by the migrant families, he mentioned that he has gathered detailed information from the Deputy Commissioner Relief Organization about various developmental concerns.

These include the provision of additional facilities in the community hall, the functioning of the primary health center, the supply of clean water, and sanitation.

Director Panchayati Raj assured that necessary interventions will be made to resolve these issues. He also urged the local community to participate in the Swachhta Pakhwara campaign for cleanliness and to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

He reiterated that migrant families will benefit from all government-sponsored schemes.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Relief Organization, Vijay Sharma, informed that all eligible migrant families will benefit from schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Old age Pension, and other welfare programs.

On this occasion, DIC Manager Jammu, Bharat Bhushan, Block Program Manager JKSRLM, Akash Jaiswal, Assistant Director Employment and Nodal Officer Mission Youth Mukhlis Ali shared details about schemes for unemployed youth.

Various departments had set up stalls during the camp to provide information about government schemes and programs to the migrants.

Director Panchayati Raj later toured the entire camp to assess the issues firsthand and issued instructions on the spot for their resolution.


 

NAGROTA JULY 16- Senior BJP leader Mr Devender Singh Rana today asserted that Jammu has always and will unitedly stand up against anti-national forces, saying national integrity and sovereignty is DNA of the land of warriors.

 

“Jammu is committed to national unity and security”, Mr Rana said in an informal interaction with the media persons at the sidelines of the flagging off of e-bus from Bus stand to Ban toll Plaza via Nagrota, Panjgrian here this afternoon.

 

Mr Rana said that Jammu has all along remained on the forefront in isolating anti-national forces, maintaining sovereignty and combating threats to national integrity. He referred to sinister machinations of Pakistan and its patronized ecosystem to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir, saying they will not succeed on the face of people’s firm resolve to maintain inclusivity and strategized operations of the security forces and police to combat terrorism with iron fists. The priority of Jammu people is to effectively counter external interference by way of unleashing terrorism besides maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Mr Rana pitched for collective action to meet the challenge of terrorism while highlighting the importance of cooperation among all sections of society and government to effectively combat terrorism and ensure security and peace.

The Senior BJP leader condemned the Doda terror act, leading to martyrdom of an officer and three soldiers, saying the perpetrators will not go unpunished as the decisive government under Yashaswi Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi has zero tolerance against terrorism. He said the people of Jammu are in solidarity with the families of brave-hearts, who have offered supreme sacrifice in line of duty. Their sacrifice will not go waste as the nation is further firming up its resolve to eliminate the scourge  of terrorism, raising its monstrous head in the Jammu region, he added.

“My heart goes to the families, who have lost their valiant sons in the dastardly act”, Mr Rana said, adding that terrorism has no place in a civilized world and those indulging in such barbaric acts were the enemies of humanity. He exuded confidence that terrorists cannot succeed in breaking the will and determination of the compatriots by such dastardly acts, saying the country sees through the nefarious game plan and remains vigilant against their mechanizations. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families, prayed for peace to the departed souls and wished speedy recovery to the valiant injured personnel.

Time for spiritual rejuvenation, devotion at Kol Kandoli Temple

 NAGROTA OCTOBER 15- In the spiritually filled ambience and amid the grand festivity, Senior BJP leader Mr Devender Singh Rana on Sunday paid obeisance at Kol Kandoli temple, the first darshans of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, on the auspicious occasion of the first Navratra and prayed to Maa Shailputri for peace and harmony progress across the country as also in Jammu and Kashmir.

He performed the Pujas amid recitation of Mantras and Bhaints of The Mata Rani.

 

Interacting with the devotees, Mr Rana felicitated the people on the commencement of Navratras and hoped this auspicious occasion to spread peace and amity and inspire people to rededicate themselves to the service of humanity and the country. He invoked blessings of Maa Durga and prayed for universal brotherhood and well-being of the people.

 

          “Navratras are the auspicious days when we all should submit before Maa Durga, the divine mother, and seek Her blessings for all”, he said and observed that the people of Jammu were blessed to be under the footsteps of Mata Vaishno Devi that has all along showered Her blessings upon millions of devotees from times immemorial.

 

“We must devote ourselves to the special prayers for Mata to overcome all our difficulties", he said and hoped that Navratras will usher Jammu and Kashmir in a new era of peace and progress.

         

Mr Rana also hoped that the blessings of Goddess Durga will help in inclusive growth of the society and peace across the world.
