 UDHAMPUR, APRIL 12:  District Administration Udhampur, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, today organized an awareness programme at Devika Ghat as part of the Information, Education & Communication campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The programme was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh.

 Addressing the participants, the ADC highlighted the pivotal role of parents in identifying early signs of drug abuse. He emphasised the importance of vigilant monitoring and timely intervention in preventing youth from falling prey to substance abuse.

He added that the District Administration is conducting a series of IEC campaigns at the panchayat level, in municipalities and across educational institutions, particularly targeting vulnerable age groups. These efforts aim to raise awareness at the grassroots level and ensure the effective rehabilitation of individuals affected by drug addiction.

The ADC encouraged students to actively participate in awareness initiatives and serve as ambassadors in spreading the anti-drug message among their peers, families, and communities.

Resource persons from various departments threw light  on the social, economic and medical impacts of drug addiction.


 Volleyball matches held at 15 locations to promote Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

SAMBA, APRIL 12: Samba district transformed into a battlefield against substance abuse today as volleyball nets rose across 15 strategically selected locations, bringing together hundreds of youth in a powerful demonstration against drug addiction under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The district-wide initiative, orchestrated by the Samba Administration in partnership with the Social Welfare Department and Youth Services & Sports, succeeded in its dual mission of promoting athletic excellence while delivering a decisive message against the drug abuse.

The match organised at Govt. Middle School Gudwal, Vijaypur, was   inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, who applauded the enthusiasm of the players and collaborative efforts of the organizers. "What we witnessed today wasn't just a sporting event but a social revolution happening through sports," said a district official present at one of the venues.

The synchronized volleyball matches created a festival-like atmosphere across Samba, with each court becoming a center for positive engagement. Alongside the athletic competition, participants and spectators received educational materials detailing the devastating effects of substance abuse and available support resources.

The day culminated in an emotional ceremony where winners received their accolades and all participants—players and spectators alike—took a solemn pledge to maintain Samba's momentum toward becoming completely drug-free.

This initiative stands as part of Samba's ongoing comprehensive strategy to combat substance abuse through positive alternatives and community mobilisation.


 SUNDERBANI, MARCH 02: Government Degree College Sunderbani today organised an awareness camp under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma. The event aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of substance abuse and to promote a drug-free society.

Principal Government Degree College Sunderbani Ashu Vashishat was the chief guest on the occasion. The camp was presided over by the District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem.

The occasion was further graced by the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Block Development Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Zonal Education Officer and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Professors from GDC Sunderbani, officials from District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Social Welfare Department, as well as Aanganwadi and ASHA Workers were also present.

The event also saw active participation of more than 300 students, who took part in the awareness campaign. Another highlight of the event was the involvement of Shakti Udghosh, an NGO that is conducting an all-women motorbike expedition from Kathua to Poonch to spread awareness about the perils of drug abuse. Their efforts were lauded by the attendees, as they demonstrated their commitment to educating the masses on this crucial issue.

The District Social Welfare Officer emphasized the importance of community participation in the fight against drug addiction. He urged everyone present to be proactive in their approach towards building a drug-free society.

The Chief Guest expressed gratitude for the collective efforts of all those working to bring about awareness on such an important issue and reiterated the college's commitment to supporting similar initiatives in the future.

The event included active Participation from students as well in the form of Nukkad Natak, Songs, Poetry on the theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan which helped in enlightening the students and the local community about the dangers of drug addiction and the need for prevention.

  


SAMBA, DECEMBER 14: NSS Unit ‘Prabha’ of GDC Ramgarh, on Thursday organised a Poster making Competition on the theme ”Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” under the guidance  and supervision of the Principal of the College, Dr. Geetanjli Andotra.

As many as 15 students were selected for the competition. They actively participated and created colourful posters to spread awareness regarding the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign. The Posters depicting consequences of substance consumption and drug abuse prevention were showcased beautifully by students of the college.

Principal of the college Dr. Geetanjli  Andotra applauded the Endeavour to raise awareness about the menace of drugs. She added that for a bright future of the country. It is imperative that the youth are motivated to adopt a healthy outlook towards life. She also applauded the NSS P.O of the college, Prof. Brham Dutt for organizing the event.

The Posters were judged by a jury comprising Dr.Shivani Choudhary HOD Political Science, Ms. Priya Sharma HOD Sociology.

In the Competition pertaining to the Nasha Mukt, Ist, 2nd and 3rd Prizes were claimed by Alisha Menia of B.A Sem-3rd , Sonali Bhagat of B.A Sem-Ist and Kamini Chib of B.A sem-3rd respectively.
