NEW DELHI JANUARY 28: Minister for Tribal Affairs, J&K, Javed Rana, today called on Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, in New Delhi and discussed the roadmap for holistic development of tribal communities in Jammu & Kashmir.
He sought Centre's assistance for transforming lives of tribal communities by fostering sustainable, inclusive growth.
The discussions revolved around a range of proposals aimed at addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by tribal populations in the Union Territory.
Accompanying the Minister were Secretary, Tribal Affairs J&K, Prasanna Ramaswamy G and Deputy Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department.
The meeting witnessed presentation of a detailed proposal outlining transformative initiatives for welfare of tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir. The focus was on improving access to education, healthcare, sustainable infrastructure, women empowerment and economic opportunities.
The Union Minister commended the efforts of J&K government and assured robust support from the Centre.
One of the key highlights of the discussion was establishment of 15 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in tribal-dominated districts. The initiative is set to provide quality education and skill development opportunities to tribal children, addressing long-standing educational disparities in the region.
Rana emphasised the transformative potential of these schools in empowering tribal youth. He sought support of the Centre to develop a Tribal Smart Village with modern infrastructure, renewable energy solutions and digital connectivity. This project is envisioned as a model for sustainable and inclusive development, catering to the unique needs of tribal communities, he added. He underscored the importance of such initiatives in setting a precedent for tribal development nationwide.
The Minister also proposed establishment of 50 telemedicine centers, six 30 bedded hospitals and deployment of advanced ambulances in remote tribal areas. These measures aim to bridge critical gaps in healthcare access and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
The challenges faced by nomadic tribes were also highlighted, with plans for mobile education units and resettlement zones equipped with essential facilities like healthcare and grazing lands. The provision of tents for migratory families was highlighted as an immediate succour to improve their living conditions during harsh weather.
The Minister stressed on women empowerment with a mission to support self-help groups engaged in crafts, dairy and small enterprises. He noted that empowering women would have a ripple effect on the overall progress of tribal communities.
Renewable energy solutions for remote villages and eco-tourism initiatives in regions like Rajouri and Poonch also formed part of the discussions. These initiatives aim to enhance living standards while preserving the cultural and environmental heritage of tribal areas.
Speaking after the meeting, Javed Rana expressed confidence in the Union Government’s support for these initiatives.

Union Minister Gadkari agrees to no RE blind wall between Kunjwani to Narwal Expressway: Jugal
NEW DELHI- Senior BJP leader and Member Parliament Mr Jugal Kishore Sharma today expressed gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Mr Nitin Gadkari for conceding to the most vociferously projected demand of the people of Jammu for not having RE blind wall between Kunjwani and Narwal, as part of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.
In a statement, after meeting the Union Minister, along with senior BJP leaders from Jammu including Mr Devender Singh Rana, Mr Vikram Randhawa and Mr Sham Lal Langar, Chairman of the party’s Traders Cell, Mr Jugal Sharma expressed satisfaction over the issue resolved at the high level meeting of the National Highway Authority of India, presided over by Mr Gadkari.
Mr Sharma described the decision taken at the meeting with regard to preserving the commercial grandeur of the highway between Kunjwani and Narwal as fulfillment of the aspirations of the people of the Temple City, who had been peacefully highlighting this demand under the aegis of the BJP.
“Today’s decision has brought cheer to the people in general and respite to the stakeholders of the business hub in the Jammu outskirts”, Mr Sharma said while lauding the pragmatic stewardship of the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister.
He said the stakeholders have been seeking vehemently demanding construction of flyover between Kunjwani, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat and Narwal Sector as the RE wall would have meant choking of business hub, impacting the sustenance of thousands of stakeholders directly or indirectly. They had always welcomed the Expressway to have seamless journey of spiritual bliss seekers to Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji but were seeking flyover instead of RE wall.
BJP National General Secretary Mr Tarun Chugh had also taken up the issue with Mr Gadkari, keeping in view the concerns of the stakeholders, as the thickly populated city area, comprised schools, hospitals, local markets, shops, malls, banquet halls, main-fruit Mandi,Main-Vegetable Mandi,Transport Nagar, ISBT bus stand and new railway station platforms with entrance and exit axis. Therefore , the blind wall would have spoiled all the establishments and also created obstacles in free movement of people.
It may be recalled that a deputation of the prominent citizens of the affected areas besides those engaged in trade and commerce, led by senior BJP leader Mr Devender Singh Rana and comprising Mr Sham Lal Langer BJP Traders Cell and Arun Gupta President Chamber of Commerce Jammu had called on the Union Minister Mr Nitin Gadkari a couple of weeks ago with this demand of immense public importance. The Union Minister had assured the delegation that necessary instructions would be issued to the National Highway Authority of India, keeping in view the public sensitivity over the issue.
“Finally, after several rounds of meetings, the Union Minister has been kind enough to communicate the decision to the National Highway Authority of India that there will be no RE wall between Kunjwani and Narwal sector of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway”, Mr Jugal Sharma and congratulated the people in general and the stakeholders in particular for fulfillment of their urges and aspirations.
Government Steps Up Efforts to Tackle Heatwave Impact
Delhi, June 19, 2024 — In response to the escalating heatwave conditions in north India, the Union Health Ministry has issued an urgent advisory to mitigate the impact on public health. Director General of Health Services, Atul Goel, announced today that all central government hospitals in Delhi, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospitals, as well as hospitals across all States and Union Territories (UTs), have been directed to ensure that patients affected by the heatwave receive prompt and effective care.
Ensuring Readiness of Healthcare Facilities
The advisory underscores the critical need for preparedness in the healthcare sector to handle the influx of patients experiencing heat-related illnesses. Dr. Goel stated, “All central government hospitals in Delhi, AIIMS hospitals, and all States/UTs have been directed to make sure that heatwave patients should not suffer.” This directive is part of a comprehensive strategy to bolster healthcare services during extreme weather conditions.
To ensure the implementation of these directives, officials from the Union Health Ministry will conduct visits to three central government hospitals in Delhi tomorrow morning. These visits aim to assess the hospitals’ readiness to manage heatwave patients and to provide any necessary support and guidance.
Impact of the Heatwave
The ongoing heatwave has led to soaring temperatures across north India, with several regions recording temperatures well above 40°C (104°F). These extreme temperatures pose significant health risks, particularly to vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
Heatwaves can cause a range of health issues, from heat exhaustion and dehydration to heatstroke, which can be fatal if not treated promptly. The advisory from the Union Health Ministry highlights the importance of early detection and treatment of heat-related illnesses to prevent serious health outcomes.
Measures for Public Awareness and Safety
In addition to the directives issued to hospitals, the Union Health Ministry is also focusing on public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the dangers of heatwaves and the precautions they should take. These measures include:
Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
Avoiding strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
Seeking shade and wearing light, loose-fitting clothing.
Keeping homes cool by using fans or air conditioning, and keeping windows and curtains closed during the day.
Public health advisories are being disseminated through various media channels to ensure that the information reaches a wide audience. The ministry is also coordinating with local authorities to ensure that adequate water supplies and cooling shelters are available in the most affected areas.
Collaborative Efforts to Mitigate the Heatwave’s Effects
The Union Health Ministry’s advisory is part of a broader, collaborative effort involving various government departments and agencies. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Indian Meteorological Department, and local governments are working together to monitor the heatwave conditions and provide timely updates to the public.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health is liaising with international health organizations to adopt best practices for managing heatwave conditions and minimizing health risks.
As north India continues to experience severe heatwave conditions, the Union Health Ministry’s proactive measures aim to protect public health and ensure that healthcare facilities are fully prepared to handle the increased demand for medical services. By focusing on both healthcare readiness and public awareness, the ministry is taking a comprehensive approach to mitigate the impact of the heatwave and safeguard the well-being of citizens.

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has shared important information about the voting results coming on the election results day i.e. June 4, 2024. He has prepared a detailed chart which gives necessary information for all political parties and counting agents. This chart has been prepared with the aim of maintaining transparency of the election process and preventing any kind of irregularities.
The first mention in this chart is Control Unit (CU) number, Ballot Unit (BU) number and VVPAT (Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail) ID. These units are the various components of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), through which the voting process is carried out. In the third column, the date of June 4, 2024 and the time of opening of the machine is recorded. This time is determined by the Election Commission and it is mandatory to follow it.
If any difference is found in this set time, it may indicate that the machine has already been opened somewhere. This can be a serious issue and should be investigated immediately. Similarly, the serial number of the CU (Control Unit) is also written in the chart, which is required to be matched during the counting process. This serial number is important to confirm the authenticity and security of the machine.
The purpose of this chart by Kapil Sibal is to ensure that the election results are fair and transparent. By following this, any kind of irregularity in the election process can be prevented and all political parties will be confident that their votes have been counted correctly.
Kapil Sibal has advised all political parties and candidates to take special precautions before pressing the result button of EVM. He has stressed that when the total votes are counted, it should be watched carefully, so that no irregularities or problems arise. It is extremely important to ensure that there are no mistakes in the counting process, as this is vital to the accuracy and fairness of the election result.
Kapil Sibal has emphasized on two main things which should be kept in mind. First of all, do not press the Result button until you confirm the above columns. This is to ensure that all the information entered in the EVM is correct and accurate. This step is important as it keeps the counting process transparent and error-free.
Secondly, if any difference in timing is found, consider it suspicious. The time lag may mean that there is a problem with the counting process or that an error has occurred. In such a situation, it is important to first ensure whether the detected difference in time is correct or not, and if it is not correct, correct it immediately.
Kapil Sibal advised all political parties and candidates to carefully check the information in the first column and only then allow the machine to be opened. This entire process is extremely important to maintain the accuracy and fairness of the election results.
