 RAJOURI, APRIL 02: On the directions of the Transport Commissioner Visheshpaul Mahajan, and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, a comprehensive road checking drive was conducted today by the ARTO Rajouri Rajesh Gupta, at Thanamandi-Berote road. 

The road checking aimed to reinforce compliance with traffic regulations and ensure road safety.

A total of 170 vehicles were checked during the drive, and 27 were issued E-challans for violation of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Rules framed thereunder. The amount expected to be collected from these E-challaned vehicles is Rs. 67,000 (Sixty-Seven Thousand Rupees).

Additionally, 8 vehicles were seized for serious violations, as per the relevant provisions of the law.

This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the district administration to improve road safety, enforce traffic discipline and ensure smooth movement of traffic in the region.


 RAJOURI, APRIL 01: Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting here in the Conference Hall to review the status of grievances and citizen registrations on the JK Samadhan portal. The meeting focused on ensuring timely redressal of public grievances and enhancing transparency in services delivery.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the ADC-wise status of grievance registrations and disposals. He directed the officers to expedite both the registration and resolution of grievances, emphasizing the need for quality disposal to ensure citizen satisfaction. Pending grievances were also discussed with the concerned officers to facilitate swift resolution.

Apart from grievance redressal, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of the physical verification of development works across the district. He directed the Tehsildars to identify patches of state land and instructed that the issuance of category certificates to the general public should not be delayed. Strict vigilance was emphasized to maintain transparency in public services delivery.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment to good governance, DC Rajouri stated that there shall be zero tolerance for corruption. He urged all officers to ensure efficiency and accountability in addressing public concerns.

The meeting was attended by ADC Kalakote Tanveer Ahmed, ADC Rajouri Rajiv Khajuria, ADC Sunderbani Rajeev Magotra, ADC Nowshera Babu Ram Tandon, ACP Sheraz Chouhan, SDM Thanamandi Abid Hussain, ACD Vijay Kr Verma, CMO Manohar Rana, along with Tehsildars and BDOs.

 


RAJOURI, MARCH 16: District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today conducted an extensive tour of Darhal, where he resolved the long-pending issue of the NABARD funded SDH to Dara via Sagarawat road, paving the way for its execution.

Following his intervention, the road construction is now in progress, bringing much-needed relief to the local populace.

Meanwhile, the DDC also inspected the progress of the PMGSY road from Darhal to via Katemar, assessing the ongoing work and directing officials to expedite the project for timely completion.

In addition, he met with public delegations, patiently hearing their concerns and resolving their grievances on the spot, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to responsive governance.

Later, the DDC inspected several other ongoing developmental works in the area and emphasized the need for quality execution and adherence to deadlines to ensure public welfare. He also stressed the effective utilization of assets created under the Swachh Bharat Mission, directing officials to ensure their proper upkeep and functionality for sustained community benefit.

Accompanying him during the visit were ACD Vijay kr Verma, Ex En PMGSY, Imtiaz Mir, Tehsildar Darhal, BDO Darhal, and other district and sectoral officers. They also provided updates on different projects and assured timely resolution of developmental challenges.

The visit reaffirms the administration's dedication to enhancing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for the people of Darhal.


 RAJOURI, MARCH 14: Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma and SSP Gaurav Sikarwar celebrated Holi with the civil society of the District Rajouri at Town Hall today. Civil Society representatives, including MLA Rajouri were present, marking a historic moment for the region.

Keeping the traditions, the district administration, religious leaders, and civil society came together to celebrate the festival of colors in a spirit of unity and brotherhood.  

Adding to the festive spirit, the grand Jhanki of Bhairon Baba, being taken over the past eight days, concluded smoothly last evening. The seamless conduct of the event highlighted the collaborative efforts of the administration and the local community in ensuring a peaceful and joyous atmosphere.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Abhishek Sharma extended his warm greetings to the people, emphasizing the importance of inclusive celebrations in fostering social bonds. SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar commended the collective efforts of all stakeholders in ensuring a secure and vibrant Holi celebration.

The event concluded on a positive note, with attendees appreciating the initiative and expressing hope for more such celebrations that promote unity and brotherhood in Rajouri.


 RAJOURI, MARCH 03: Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, today addressed a press conference regarding the recent suspension of an employee. He stated that the decision was taken following due procedure, based on multiple complaints against the individual dating back to 2021.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, who is also holding charge as Registrar of BGSBU, accompanied the Vice Chancellor during the press conference.

Prof. Iqbal emphasized that the suspension was not arbitrary but was necessitated by non-compliance with institutional norms. He assured that a fair inquiry is underway, and the concerned individual will be given an opportunity to present their case once the process is completed.

Clarifying the University’s administrative status, he stated that no teaching association currently exists, as their tenure has already ended. He also reassured that classwork is not suspended, and the university is functioning smoothly.

Furthermore, he urged employees to adhere to institutional rules instead of resorting to pressure tactics, stressing that the university’s progress remains the priority. “We are not against teachers; we want the university to progress, but compliance with norms is essential,” he said.

Prof. Iqbal also announced that the admission process for the new academic session will commence soon, urging all stakeholders to focus on admissions and the smooth conduct of examinations to ensure that students do not suffer.

 


RAJOURI, MARCH 01:  In an effort to strengthen the relationship between Police and public, Range Police Headquarters Rajouri organised a Kabaddi Tournament at District Police Lines Rajouri witnessing participation of teams from across the District.

The tournament began on Feb 19, 2025 and concluded today with the final match played between Jamola Kabaddi Club and Kotranka Kabaddi Club.

 Jamola Kabaddi Club emerged victorious with a margin of 21 points.

After the culmination of the final match, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Headquarters Rajouri Tejinder Singh, along with SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar commended the players for their dedication and perseverance. The DIG underscored the significance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit.

  Dy.SP Hqrs Rajouri Satish Kumar; Dy.SP DAR Rajouri Akshay Khajuria  and  Dy.SP Staff Officer RPHQ Rajouri Pawan Sharma, besides other officials were also present.

The event concluded with the presentation of trophies/Medals and cash prize to the winner and runner up teams, besides words of appreciation to all participating teams and officials who contributed towards the success of the tournament.


 RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 25: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today chaired a review meeting regarding functioning of various departments at Sunderbani.

The meeting focused on addressing the issues and grievances of the general public relating different departments.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to resolve the public grievances on priority basis, ensuring swift and effective solutions to the concerns of the local residents.

During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister also had a comprehensive review of the progress on various schemes of different departments. He emphasised the importance of raising public awareness about various government schemes and programs. He instructed the District Social Welfare Officer and Assistant Labour Commissioner to organise special camps in the district, particularly in Nowshera and Sunderbani, to educate the public about their initiatives and ensure maximum coverage.

The meeting was attended by ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandan; ADC Sunderbani, Rajeev Magotra; SE PWD(R&B), Devi Dayal; ACD, Vijay Kumar; DSWO, Abdul Raheem; DMO, Mohd Sayeed; ALC, Pradyot Gupta and other officers.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister also attended a mega event organised at Guru Ravi Dass Ji temple at Dheri, marking his continued commitment towards community welfare and spiritual engagement.
