Asks departments to make available best facilities, services for visiting devotees

REASI, FEBRUARY 20: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, who is also Chairman Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board, today chaired a meeting here to review the preparations for the three-day Maha Shivratri Shivkhori Mela, set to commence from February 25, 2025.

At the outset, Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik gave a comprehensive overview of the arrangements, covering provision of civic amenities including water and power supply, medical facilities, sanitation, besides measures taken for foolproof security, maintenance of law and order, traffic management and quality control of food stuff etc.

The Divisional Commissioner reviewed measures taken for barricading, public announcement system, provision of yatra registration counters, establishment of control rooms, and installation of hoardings to avoid inconvenience to pilgrims. “All stakeholder departments are needed to put in extra efforts to provide a memorable pilgrimage experience to the visiting devotees” he maintained.

Taking note of the growing number of pilgrims, the Divisional Commissioner proposed developing a mobile application for speedy pilgrim registration and management. Officials were directed to make use of digital solutions for smooth registration processes and better crowd management.

Calling for provision of quality food at the langar, he asked stakeholders to focus on cleanliness and hygienic surroundings.

The Chief Medical Officer was asked to permanently station a doctor at Bhawan, besides deploy an Ambulance and fully equipped medical team for the duration of the festival. To enhance pilgrim safety, officials posted at the Shivkhori Shrine will be imparted specialized training in fire safety measures, he said.

To facilitate smooth movement of devotees, the Divisional commissioner directed the ARTO to keep available adequate transport facilities and deploy enforcement teams to keep check on overloading and overcharging. The XEN PWD was directed to maintain roads, plan an alternate route from Ram Mandir to the Shivkhori Shrine and work on the expansion of the bridge on the route.

Security and law enforcement agencies were also directed to maintain tight security and ensure smooth crowd management during the festival.

SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, ADC Rakesh Kumar, EO SSKSB Pardeep Kumar, ACR Anshumali Sharma, CMO, ARTO and other officials were present.

 


REASI, FEBRUARY 18: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik, who is also the Vice Chairman of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB), today visited Ransoo to review preparations for the three-day Maha Shivratri Mela 2025, set to begin on February 25. 

During her visit, the DC directed officials to establish multiple registration counters at different locations to facilitate devotees and improve crowd management. She also inspected the bus and taxi stands at Ransoo, ensuring a well-coordinated traffic plan to prevent congestion during the event.

To maintain hygiene and cleanliness, DC Malik instructed officials to install dustbins along the track and near langar areas. She emphasized the need to avoid plastic usage and urged langar organizers to ensure proper sanitation while distributing food. Additionally, she directed authorities to deploy extra well-maintained public toilets near the track to accommodate the large number of visitors.

Adding to this Deputy Commissioner directed for stationing of Fire Services staff and trucks during the whole Mela. She directed XENs to ensure uninterrupted availability of basic amenities like electricity supply and water supply for the convenience of devotees. Deputy Commissioner also directed tourism Department to ensure proper publicity of event and Cultural items that will take place. She emphasised on proper illumination of town to enhance Ambience of the festival.

She emphasised on prioritising public safety and convenience during the event.

The DC stressed on proper security arrangements and the need for additional manpower to ensure a safe and peaceful atmosphere during the mela. She also instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide all necessary medical facilities, including ambulances, along the track and near the sacred cave, ensuring timely medical assistance for devotees if needed.

As part of her efforts to enhance the overall experience, DC Malik emphasized the beautification of Ransoo town by improving lighting and maintaining cleanliness. She directed officials to ensure a well-organized and welcoming environment, making the pilgrimage a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for thousands of devotees expected to attend the festival.

EO SSKSB Pardeep kumar, XEN PWD, XEN JPDCL, XEN PHE, Tehsildar Pouni, BDO Pouni, HR Manager accompanied the DC during the visit.
