DC Srinagar felicitates Safai Mitras ; Lauds their instrumental role in achieving the vision of Swachh Srinagar

SRINAGAR OCTOBER 02: To commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and recognize the invaluable efforts of the Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) in maintaining cleanliness in the City, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Tuesday organized a grand event at Sher-e-Kashmir(SK) Park on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. 

The programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad as the Chief Guest. 

The event was held under the theme of “Swachhata Hi Seva” aimed to acknowledge and appreciate the dedicated Safai Mitras(sanitation workers) for their relentless hard work and significant contribution towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign). The highlight of the event was the provision of health check-ups for the Safai Mitras, ensuring their well-being and emphasizing their importance in the community. 

During his address, the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar expressed his admiration and gratitude towards the Safai Mitras for their tireless efforts in keeping the Srinagar City clean and clear of garbage. He recognized their unwavering commitment and lauded their role as unsung heroes in achieving the vision of a Clean J&K. He further applauded their dedication and perseverance, acknowledging that their work has a direct impact on the overall well-being and quality of life for the residents of the City. 

The DC lauded the SMC for organizing the event that served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and encourage citizens to actively participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He said the programme is aimed to inspire individuals and communities to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and green environment, ultimately striving for a Clean and garbage-free Srinagar.

 On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, presented certificates of recognition to the Safai Mitras as a token of appreciation, acknowledging their outstanding contributions in the cleanliness of the City and hygiene of the Citizens of Srinagar. The certificates symbolize the gratitude and admiration towards these unsung heroes who diligently carry out their duties, often in challenging  conditions.

The mega event was also participated by Joint Commissioner, SMC, Syed Abu Qasim, Chief Sanitation Officer, Nazir Ahmad Baba and other Officers and Officials of SMC who extended their gratitude to Deputy Commissioner for gracing the event as the Chief Guest and for his encouraging words that uplifted the spirits of the Safai Mitras. 

 They also unanimously said that the SMC remains committed to working hand in hand with the community to create a sustainable and hygienic environment, besides encouraging every citizen to embrace the principles of cleanliness and make Cleanliness a way of life.

 


SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 02: High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, under the directions of Chief Justice, celebrated Swachh Bharat Diwas, as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a mission launched by the Government of India to fulfill the dream of clean and hygienic India, in the premises of the Srinagar Wing of the High Court.

The Safaimitras/Safaikaramcahris who participated in the event were felicitated in the High Court premises, Srinagar and were provided gift items.

The event was attended by  Tasleem Arief, Registrar Vigilance, Abdul Bari, Joint Registrar Judicial Srinagar Wing besides  other officers and officials of Srinagar Wing of High Court.

 Community mobilization drive draws Massive Public Participation

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 3: To raise awareness about cleanliness and sanitation as part of the Swachhta Abhiyan, the Udhampur Administration today initiated a community mobilization campaign across the district.

The launch event witnessed a collective effort led by Chairperson DDC Udhampur, Lal Chand, alongside Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai; SSP, Dr. Vinod Kumar; ADDC, Ghan Sham Singh; ADC, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, SDMs besides active involvement of PRI members, general public, shopkeepers and other functionaries of the District Administration.

The Chairperson DDC underscored the significance of maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene, urging all participants to keep their surroundings clean and inspire others to follow the suit. He encouraged the public to abandon the use of polythene, maintain hygiene, and protect the water resources to maintain a clean environment in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai emphasized the need for cooperation from all stakeholders in spreading awareness about cleanliness. She outlined the goals of the sanitation drive and called upon the public to pledge their commitment towards a clean and green district through active participation at individual and community level. She expressed gratitude to all participants and invited them to collaborate with the District Administration in future cleanliness initiatives.

Rai also highlighted that the mega cleanliness drive will encompass every Block/Tehsil and all Municipal wards, Blocks & panchayats in the District, reflecting the enthusiastic response of the people of the district.

Later, an awareness rally, involving students from various schools and Vehicles were flagged off for door to door collection from Devika Ghat. A Nukkad natak (street play) was also staged by MC Udhampur at Devika Ghat.

Simultaneous Cleanliness and Sanitation drives were conducted in every Block/Tehsil Headquarters and across all three MCs of the district, with participation of PRI members, ULBs, District Officers, general public, representatives of NGOs, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, Bharat Scouts and Guides, as well as students and staff of educational institutions.

KUPWARA, AUGUST 27: The District Administration Kupwara has issued a Circular wherein all the District and Sectoral officers of the district have been asked to ensure improved standard of cleanliness and sanitation in the Government offices.

The Circular issued by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara reads, “Whereas, it has been noticed that the level of cleanliness and sanitation being maintained in the premises of Government Offices is of low standard and there is an urgent need to reform the way these premises are cleaned to ensure a sustainable and healthy environment”.

“Whereas, as part of the Swach Bharat Mission mandate, it is imperative for government officers to provide a clean and healthy working environment for its employees/visitors. A clean working environment is essential to the safety, dignity and comfort of the employees/visitors”, Circular reads further.

It is also mentioned in the Circular that “cleanliness is not a matter which can be implemented alone by any Officer or any establishment without the help of each and every Officer/employee working there for the beautification and cleanliness of the premises of Government Offices”.

The Deputy Commissioner has impressed upon all the District/Sectoral Officers to ensure that standard of cleanliness and sanitation being maintained in the premises of Government Offices is improved and in this regard, an inspection will be carried out in all the Government Offices in coming days.
