Jammu, April 21: The Director of J&K State Sericulture Development Department, Shri Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), engaged in a meaningful interaction with the students of the Department of Sericulture, Poonch Campus during his visit to the Central Silk Board (CSB) located at Miran Sahib, Jammu. This visit aimed to foster closer ties between the department and its students, as well as to explore avenues for enhancing their learning experiences.
Accompanied by Incharge Department of Sericulture, Poonch Campus Dr. Rubia Bukhari and officials of CSB, Director J&K SSDD interacted extensively with the students undergoing a 45-day training program at the CSB premises. He reassured them of the department’s commitment to organizing exposure tours, enriching their practical knowledge in sericulture.
During the interaction, Director Bhat commended Dr. Rubia Bukhari for her pivotal role in driving transformative initiatives such as the Cocoon Artistry Initiative and the promotion of sericulture in the region. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition, Director Bhat assured the students of exploring opportunities for collaboration between the department and the students of Poonch Campus, fostering a symbiotic relationship aimed at mutual growth and development.
Director of Poonch Campus, Professor Rakesh Vaid, also recently visited the P.G. scholars from Poonch Campus, University of Jammu, who are currently engaged in their 45-day dissertation program at the Regional Sericultural Research Station in Miran Sahib, Jammu. During his visit, Professor Vaid assured the students of the campus’s commitment to exploring opportunities for organizing various programs aimed at exposing them to the latest techniques in sericulture promotion. This pledge reflects the campus’s dedication to providing students with comprehensive learning experiences to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field.
Director of Poonch Campus, Professor Rakesh Vaid, expressed appreciation for the teaching faculty’s dedication in imparting knowledge to the students of Poonch Campus, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping the students’ educational journey.

P.G. scholars from Poonch Campus, University of Jammu, recently completed their 45-day dissertation program at the Regional Sericultural Research Station in Miran Sahib, Jammu. Guided by Dr. N.S. Gahlot and Dr. Santosh Kumar Magadum, the scholars delved into both Pre-Cocoon and Post-Cocoon sectors, enhancing their skills and knowledge in sericulture.
Under the supervision of Incharge Department of Sericulture Poonch Campus Dr. Rubia Bukhari, the Students after the completion of dessitation program returned back to Poonch from Miran Sahib Jammu. This initiative forms a crucial part of their coursework, contributing significantly to their academic journey.
